Confidence in the Heart - day retreat with Sheila Namka Roche

This day of practice will introduce a central approach of the Awakened Heart Sangha teachings: Confidence in the Heart.  Lama Shenpen Hookham writes: “The whole Buddhist tradition is based on the belief that we have within our being, within our heart, an awake quality, an inner wisdom, which expresses itself as warmth and gentleness.  The whole path of Awakening revolves around and returns to confidence in our Indestructible Heart.”

This day will explore what helps and what hinders us connecting with this basic confidence, with meditation, reflection and sharing.

The day is open to all, and particularly welcomes people from diverse backgrounds.

Sheila Namka Roche has been practicing Dharma since the late 1980’s, first with the Forest Sangha, and for the last 11 years with Lama Shenpen Hookham, founder of the Awakened Heart Sangha, who teaches a contemporary approach within the Tibetan Buddhist tradition. Namka facilitates the AHS group in Brighton with Bodhi Tree.    She has also facilitated the Brighton LGBTQI+ meditation group at Bodhi Tree since 2002.
